The Parables on the Value of the Kingdom
Matthew 13:44–46 presents two parables in which men sell everything they possess to acquire a hidden treasure and a pearl of great price — both illustrating the supreme value of the kingdom of heaven. The sermon argues that coming to Christ is never a loss: the sinner who forsakes all gains everything, and joy rather than grief ought to mark that transaction. Drawing on Moses in Hebrews 11, Paul in Philippians, and the attributes of the triune God from the 1689 confession, the sermon calls both the unconverted to seek Christ urgently and the believer to rest in the surpassing worth of what they already possess.
