The Conduct of a Faithful Minister

Jim Butler

What does faithfulness look like in the life and ministry of a gospel minister? Expounding 1 Timothy 4:12–16 as a capstone to a study of elder qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:1–7, this sermon examines four dimensions of ministerial conduct: the minister's example before the congregation, his public ministry of reading, exhortation, and doctrine, his personal growth through sustained meditation on the Word, and his perseverance in both personal piety and sound teaching. The closing application extends these same marks to the congregation, calling the saints to receive the Word with joy, reject heresy with discernment, pursue Christian virtue, and prize the public means of grace.
