Hebrews 10:24–25 sets before Christians a third and final exhortation completing the threefold pattern of corporate Christian duty: a thoughtful diligence in communion with one another that stirs up love and good works. Against the background of Hebrew Christians tempted to abandon gathered worship for the obsolete ceremonies of temple religion, the text demands mutual, outward-directed consideration of fellow believers — not a mere proximity of individuals, but a genuine fellowship that provokes charity and joyful obedience. The sermon draws on John Owen's commentary and Philippians 2:1–4 to show that this corporate ethic requires the active mortification of selfish ambition and the deliberate cultivation of lowliness of mind toward one another.
