The Savior of the World
John 4:27–42 traces three interlocking movements — the Samaritan woman's testimony, Christ's teaching on the harvest, and the Samaritans' confession that He is the Savior of the world — to argue that Christ's saving work crosses every ethnic and religious boundary without exception. The passage exposes the active and passive obedience of Christ as the twin grounds of justification: His perfect compliance with the law of God and His atoning death together constitute the righteousness sinners receive by faith alone. The Samaritans' declaration in verse 42 is not merely a first-century curiosity but a standing gospel call — Christ is the Savior of the world, and all who hear are summoned to come and see Him.
