The High Priestly Prayer, Part 9
John 17:24–26 records the final petition of Christ's high priestly prayer: that those given to him by the Father would be with him in glory and behold his mediatorial splendor. The sermon traces the theological logic from election and effectual calling through justification to glorification, grounding the certainty of the believer's future glory in the Father's eternal love for the Son and the irreversible decree of God. Along the way, the sermon addresses the relationship between sovereign election and the free offer of the gospel, arguing that the doctrines of sovereign grace are the very foundation of evangelism, not a barrier to it. The practical exhortation is twofold: let the hope of future glory fuel present sanctification, and let the love and presence of God sustain patient endurance through affliction.
