2 Kings 10

Jim Butler2 Kings 10

2 Kings 10 records the complete extermination of the house of Ahab by Jehu, the destruction of Baal worship in Israel, and the subsequent decline of the northern kingdom — all presented by the narrator as the precise fulfillment of prophecies God gave through Elijah in 1 Kings 19 and 21. Jehu functions as an imperfect, politically calculating instrument in the hands of a sovereign God whose word never fails. The chapter presses a searching application: true conversion turns from all sin — not merely the "wasteful" sins that bring no benefit, but the "gainful" sins a man clings to for security and advantage.
