The Beatitudes in the Book of Revelation
The book of Revelation contains seven distinct beatitudes — pronouncements of blessing upon the people of God — that together form a portrait of genuine Christian blessedness from the opening verse to the book's close. Far from being a book of doom and curiosity about end-times figures, Revelation is the revelation of Jesus Christ, and its beatitudes reward those who read, hear, and keep its words. Each beatitude is examined in sequence, tracing themes of eternal rest, effectual calling, regeneration, and the restoration of Paradise lost in Adam through the obedience of the last Adam. The sermon calls hearers to find their joy and stability not in eschatological speculation but in the Lamb who sits upon the throne and gives his people the right to the tree of life.
