2 Kings 8
2 Kings 8 traces three interlocking narrative threads — the restoration of the Shunammite woman's land, the assassination of Syria's king Ben-Hadad by Hazael, and the moral defection of Judah's kings Jehoram and Ahaziah — all set within the larger context of God's prophesied judgment against the house of Omri announced in 1 Kings 19. The chapter demonstrates God's comprehensive, unrivaled sovereignty over individual lives, foreign nations, and royal dynasties alike, as every piece moves toward the purge of Jehu. A recurring application drives the exposition: the knowledge of God must issue in worship and obedience, not mere fascination, and ungodly alliances — whether political or marital — carry devastating consequences across generations.
