a third reason in order that the confession of Faith was published was to demonstrate Orthodoxy though often neglected and to many unknown there is an epistle at the front of the confession that is titled to the judicious and impartial reader it's an ironic account of the purpose for the publication of the confession and was considered by its authors to be an important part of the text now if you were to read it you could say it's an apology in the classical sense of the term it's a justification or a Vindication of the doctrines or practices of the issuing churches and expressed in their confession
