In Genesis 22, God tells Abraham, "Take your son, your only son, the son whom you love," which sounds a lot like John 3:16. And God tells Abraham to take him up to Mount Mariah and there to sacrifice him, there to crucify or or to bury a knife into him and kill him. Well, we see that in the binding of our Lord Jesus Christ in the garden in John's gospel at John 18. So what Jesus is saying when he declares it is finished, it is completed, it stands applicable for all times is the Old Testament scripture. We have as well the Passover.
